Family Therapy

Family therapy helps families improve communication and resolve conflicts. Various family structures may benefit from family therapy including: parent(s) and child/children, blended families, and extended families (grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins). Types of issues that are commonly addressed in family therapy include child behavior or school problems, teen problems, family conflict, mental illness or substance abuse in a family member, trauma, and unexpected changes. The therapist helps the family become more aware of subtle dynamics that may be the source of persistent tensions and power struggles. Family therapy strives to give all family members the tools they need to make more informed life choices when challenging issues rise to the surface.
